Issue adding GE 12723 Add-On Switch to hub

I just got two GE 12723 Add-On Switchs, I was hopping to use then to control some devices on my smart hub network but I can’t figure out how to add them to the smart things hubs. Now I’m starting to realize I may have gotten the wrong switch, will this work? Can anyone help me add this to the hub.

Add-On switches are “dumb” switches. You can only control the GE 12722. The add on switch is just used with the 12722 as a three or four way switch.

[/quote] What are you wanting to do? Maybe we can recommend a solution for you? You got the GE 12723 so I am assuming you were wanting to do something with lights

That’s what I was afraid of. I wanted one to control a zwave belkin light bulb and another to control a zwave plug in outlet. Can I salvage this mistake?

If the device supports Z-Wave or ZigBee directly you don’t need a special switch. You can just add it to your hub and control it from your Smartthings App.

That I understand but I also wanted to control the bulb with a switch in a different room

You have options. I am assuming you want local control not just using your SmartThings mobile app. You could get the Aeon Minimote or Enerwave ZWN and control both.

You may want to also look at the Copper Aspire switches. I have not used them myself, but it might provide a solution for what you need.

So essentially your telling me the add-ons I got are worthless for what I want to do. Is there anyway I can use this add on switch? I know of other options I’m using a few but I really wanted to try to get these two to work so I don’t have to return and get others. Thanks for your help guys.

No, there is absolutely no way to only use the 12723 by themselves, they HAVE to be used with either the GE 12722 or GE 12724. The way to ‘fix’ the situation is to get one of those.

Thank you that was what I thought.
