Irrigation Controller using Weather Channel and 2 solenoids

Hi all,

I’m a newbie to this sort of configuration and surprisingly I found this really easy to setup.

I am controlling two solenoids with SmartThings, Weather Channel and eWeLink Dual Channel Relaya.

I have got the solenoids to start and stop at predetermined intervals and only on days that are clear or cloudy.

However, I have not figured out how to not have the solenoids come on if it has rained in the last 24 hours.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Regards
Norbert

I don’t have any irrigation control in my system so this is speculative, but off the top of my head -

  1. Create a virtual switch (search the forum for instructions on how to do this), I’ll call it “Rained”.
  2. Create automation #1 using Weather Channel to turn on “Rained” if it rains.
  3. Create automation #2 which turns off “Rained” after a 24 hour interval.
  4. Modify your existing automations to add the precondition that “Rained” is turned off.

Thanks, Great idea.

It can be simplified by using auto turn-off set to 24 hrs. in step 2 and then eliminate step 3.
