I was wondering if this is possible. I want to be able to arm, disarm, and receive alerts when triggered. I am not opposed to buying a new panel to make it possible but I am not sure where to start.
Depends very much on the specific equipment.
You can use the quick browse lists in the community – created wiki, look under project reports and then security and you’ll probably get a more targeted list than what you just get from a forum search.
I have an old DSC System that I got up and running with 4 Motion Detectors, 16 Contacts, 4 Smoke and 4 Glass Breaks running on a Python Alarm Server connected to SmartThings via an EnvisaLink 4.
All open/close contacts and motions detectors are integrated into my home automation. The Glass Breaks and Smoke Detectors are monitored.
Was a beast setting it all up but runs great now! One thing I had to do with the Motion Detectors was setup Virtual Motion Detectors to have a 1 minute delay for reporting it status. Otherwise the active/inactive periods were too short and SmartThings would hardly sense a status change.
The EnvisaLink 4 was $100 and I gained 28 “Things” that are all hardwired! Deal!
