Quite a few of IKEA’s zigbee products are marked as “last chance to buy”. I’m hoping this is a sign that the launch of their matter over thread products is imminent ![]()
In Spain the press release said available in December at stores, so they’re indeed close.
The Matter compliance documents do not appear at CSA yet though. I really want to know if the BILRESA supports Matter bindings or not and if the wheel hides any suprises.
I’m also curious if they’ll allow firmware updates via Matter OTA and if SmartThings will include them in the white list that has been years without changes
or if it will require their DIRIGERA hub. It would be a good reason to avoid them in SmartThings unless you can update them.
Edit: It’s confirmed they’re publishing the OTAs and other platforms can update them. If SmartThings can that’s another question.
I don’t have any gu10 smart bulbs. Be these are tempting with 575 lumens
The KAJPLATS smart bulb range includes eleven variations , offering a mix of shapes, sizes, lumen levels, and styles
GU10 – directional spotlight
Colour and white spectrum, 470 lm - colour-changing
White spectrum, 575 lm – dimmable
Thanks! So, to recap, the BILRESA scroll wheel with stock drivers:
- Has triple tap!

- Supports the three “virtual” buttons, which are exposed as Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3.
- Does not support the scrolling events (yet?)
Technical note: There’s a comment in the code saying that they are not subscribing to the Initial Press event (and a whole other lot of events) because it makes the handling slow
. In other words, same problem SmartThings has with lights that send many reports, the hub can’t handle them, becomes sluggish and automations run with a noticeable delay. I wonder if the v4 is better in that regard or if it’s just a core issue with SmartThings event handling architecture.
Edit: Since there are nine endpoints, three for each button, one is for the press events, maybe the other two are the scroll wheel for each direction? But it supports multipress, so is there more than just a repeated event? Mmmh… I need one!
Edit 2: Of course it has to be multipress, they must be using the ongoing events while you rotate the dial. Maybe even the wheel can have a specific position!
