Tried to use this device in my ST and also manage to add this as a thing in the app but I can not use it? It looks more like a device for a sensor?

I also tried to configurate in the ST app but no success.

What am I doing wrong?

The Hue Motion Sensor cannot reside on your Hue Bridge and SmartThings hub at the same time. It’s one or the other.

In order for you to have it discovered and added to the SmartThings hub, you need to reset the Motion Sensor so that it goes into pairing mode. Then you can Add Thing in the ST Mobile app.

Once it has been added, you will need to follow the instructions on creating the custom Device Handler in your IDE and then once you have created / saved / published the Device Handler, you will edit the Hue Motion Sensor in IDE and assign/modify the Type to “Hue Motion Sensor” and Update it.

I have just finished building a Device Handler for the Hue Motion sensor and thought I would share it with the community. Note that this is very much beta and rather potatoe quality code as its my first device handler but it is working for me. I will happilly entertain suggestions and improvements. Motion Detects motion and illuminates a red LED on the device Sleeps for about 60 seconds before sending a no motion response Temperature Seems Accurate Battery Works but likely not calibrated very well Illuminance Measurement Returns a value that changes based on lighting, However I am not familiar with lux measurements and have nothing to compare it to for calibration. I get around 160 with normal indoor lighting and about 40 in my dimly lit bedroom, but I think that is wrong

Your Motion Sensor should now work in SmartThings.

EDIT: Not knowing your knowledge of SmartThings, if you need assistance to get started in the right direction. You can read this thread to give you some help in creating / publishing a DH from existing code.

may be using a standard device type handler, or it may just have been added as a “thing”, but it should show up on the list of devices for your account.

(If this is an ip-addressable device like a camera you may not have been able to add it to your account through the SmartThings mobile app, so the system will not assign it a device ID. In that case you will need to sign into the Developers section (IDE) and first choose My Devices and then use the ADD NEW DEVICE button to enter a placeholder for the device and assign it a unique device ID. You can choose any device type handler for the placeholder since you’re going to change it in a minute anyway. Then you can continue with the following steps.)

DT1) Copy the code from the author.

DT2) Sign in to the Developers section of the SmartThings website. (To get there, first click on “Community” at the top right of this page, then click on “Developer Tools” in the top right of that next page.)

DT3 Choose Device Handlers, then Add a New Device Handler from Code.

DT4) Paste in the code you copied, change anything necessary based on the author’s instructions, then CREATE it for yourself.

DT5) Once the Device Handler is published in your own library, select MY DEVICES in the IDE and choose the specific device you want to have use that new device handler.

DT6) Edit the Device so that it uses that device type handler.

Done!

FYI: When logging into IDE for the first time, always use https://account.smartthings.com (do not use graph.api… or any other url published in anyone’s docs as things in the ST world have changed).
