I was having the same status issue as others above with my Yale Z-Wave lock. It always showed “unlocked.” I tried the steps posted by dmorris427 above a couple of times and it still didn’t work. I noticed, though, that when my door was open even a little, the status showed correctly. It only became a problem when the door was closed. I didn’t think it was an interference issue because I could use the app to lock and unlock the door. I the stumbled upon this post: Yale Lock showing as unlocked but still responds to input
I deepened my bolt hole a little and voila! My lock now reports perfectly. I decided to add this to this thread because it seems to be a general collection of ways to trouble shoot status issues with Yale locks.
I purchased a zwave module to work with Iris, a controller similar to smart things, to go with my yale digital life touchscreen lock. I’ve gone through the factory reset options several times but still am not getting anywhere. I go through the whole 7,# to join wireless network, then 1, # to attempt to connect but it times out right after 1,#. As soon after I press 1, # the numbers on the screen light up then it makes a “error type” beeping sound. Anybody have any idea how to proceed?
Thank you for the tip about clearing the lock and running the exclusion in the ST app at the same time. I’ve been trying to clear 2 of mine from ATT and have’t been able to do it. When I tried your way it took less than a minute each and I had them up and running! Thanks again!
I have the ATT system disconnected… I have tried exiting the network by doing code # then 7# but still there is only a 3 there. I tried disconnecting via my zwave hub… but there is no device that shows up there… any other suggestions?
This is interesting, stumbling on this thread after buying a Yale deadbolt on Amazon that shipped with an ATT module. I have +70 z-wave devices all working flawlessly. However the lock will not respond to z-wave commands no matter how many times I exclude/re-add it. I do notice STH will not actually delete the device after I do a successful exclude (3 solid beeps). It just remains afterwards. FWIW I have a YRD210-ZW-619.
This worked fine with my ATT Digital Life Yale lock.
The KEY thing is having the true master code. I had to remove the 3 screws and use the reset button to add the real master code. What I thought was the master code of my lock was not the master (the installer must’ve set a master code that ATT used). I used the reset button, created a new Master code, and then followed the Z-wave exclude step (after putting ST Hub in Exclude mode, got a successful remove beep from the lock. Then put ST Hub in add mode (add device from partner, select Z-wave), then put lock in network Join mode and the ST Hub found it. The app complains that there’s a secure mode missing, but I skip that step and after a few minutes, I get no more complaints about the secure mode (and the lock starts to report status properly)
Steps:
Reset lock with reset button (remove batteries, remove 3 screws holding assembly to door, find button on back side, hold button 3-seconds, then while holding reset button, install the batteries, release reset button, it’ll beep, temporarily attach back to door with bottom screw while you do next steps)
Create new master code (#, 1#, enter 4-8 digit code, #)
Create your user door unlock codes (Master+#, 2#, 1#, user number 1-100 + #, user 4-8 digit unlock code, #) ie master+#, 2#, 1#, 51#, 1234#
