I have some horizontal blinds that have a tilt wand and a lift cord. I can automate the tilt wand with the Current E-Wand. (Somfy also appears to make a tilt motor that you put in the headrail that drives the hex rod tilt shaft directly.) I want to automate the lift cord. I also want to get the lift cord out of the way of humans. I don’t want to replace the horizontal blinds.
What options for lift cord motorization are out there? I have been looking around but I can’t find any motor that is marketed for this purpose, whether SmartThings-enabled (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, etc.) or otherwise. It looks like if I really want to do this I would have to roll my own motor solution.
Or, I think I could attach the cord to a beaded chain, and then attach the chain to a beaded chain smart motor like the Ryse SmartShade, SOMA SmartShades 3, or Zemismart Blind Driver products (Zigbee, Matter-over-Thread). This might require some elaborate pulley system to deal with the weight of the blinds as opposed to driving a roller shade.
