Hello,

With the ecobee’s APIs, there is a way to populate thermostatOperatingState based on an equipment status
attribute that is returned by ecobee.

If you look at My Ecobee Device’s screenshots (second from the top), you’ll see the list of equipment running.

Hello, I made some changes to include alerts display and climates update processing today. Here are some pictures of the resulting device within smartthings. P.S If you don’t have the equivalent attribute from the Honeywell API, then you’re out of luck.
