It’s just me or it will be useful to have two different categories for ON / OFF status devices in the Home Insight (Dashboard) section of the app?.. Let me explain, right know under the “Light” category I have lights and non light devices (mainly smart plugs and virtual devices) which I’m interested in checking the on/off status so the only option I have is to group them with the lights devices. That’s fine, but when checking out the Map View those same non light devices appear as lights when filtering by Lighting and show their respective room glowing.
I know this is a very small thing but I think it will add more consistency to the app and map view experience, and it annoys me that a couple of app versions before this wasn’t a problem because the Home Insight and the map view filters where separate things.
Not exactly, the light status on my dashboard are showing correctly, what I’m thinking is that it will be better to have 2 separate categories for light devices and other on/off devices, for example:
I like to monitor the plug that turns on/off my camera, so I enable it as a light in the dashboard even if is not a light, and that ok, but when I look at the Map View, the same plug shows as a light and glow in the room it’s in when filtering by Lighting:
I’m not saying is a bug, I think that’s how is supposed to work, what I’m saying is that would be a good idea to have separate categories for Light devices and other on/off non light devices in the dashboard and maybe in the Map View, so the Light category could be more consistent.
Home Insights is mostly broken for me at the moment. Most of the tile settings and some of the tiles are just missing.
Map View is such badly thought out crap that even the presence of its icon irritates me. If ever something needed a disable button it is that.
That said, for those able to do something useful with Map View I think it makes sense for it to respect the Home Insight settings.
I’ve certainly never really understood why they only focus on Lights with what the app now calls Home Insights. I find that Lights already have a rather obvious ‘tell’ when they are on and I am more interested in knowing when other stuff is switched on in rooms.
Although it is possible to pull the current status of several of the summary tiles from the API, I do feel a natural evolution would be for a tile to be a type of device so it could be used in automations. There is too much focus on the mobile app.
I find it particularly odd that they let you sort the tiles in situ when a key feature of the tiles is that some of them are only visible in certain circumstances.
