I’m brand new in the smartthings world. Just got mine set up last night! Woo hoo!
I’ve got a few questions.
Is there a way to set up a Routine or use Smart Home Monitor (or something) to alert on movement from a single motion sensor? And have the alert go to a single user in the Family? I don’t want to enable the whole home “armed” status. It’s basically to watch a kid sleeping and alert if he gets up and starts walking around.
I want to use a combination of a temperature sensor and outlet to keep the temperature in a room at or above a certain point. But not all the time. So for example, from 6:00-8:00am, if the temp reported from a multipurpose (or motion) sensor falls below 75°, then turn on the outlet. Once the temp gets to or above 75, turn the outlet off. Keep that schedule going until 8:00, then stop.
Yes. Go to Smart Home Monitor’s settings, and create a new “custom” monitoring rule. Select whatever motion sensor you want, and set the rule to send an sms message to a specific mobile phone when it’s triggered.
I’m not sure if you could do that with an officially supported smartapp. I’m sure the community-created app CoRE
could, although I’ve heard it’s not always that intuitive for rules with more complicated conditions. There’s another topic on this forum for discussing how to set CoRE to do your bidding (the developer calls rules in CoRE “pistons”).
You have an answer to question 1. So for question 2, the only thing I can find in native Smart Apps would require you to set up different modes. So if you had a Mode from 6-8, then a different Mode, it should work.
This would be under Marketplace - Smart Apps - Climate Control - Virtual Thermostat.
So if you don’t mind creating custom modes, then this will do fine.
If you don’t want custom modes if they will interfere with other things, then you might want to look at something a little more complex but a lot more customizable like CoRe.
But maybe somone else knows an App that might trigger an outlet based on Time and temp sensor??
