I am trying to create a simple automation for my lamp to act as a nightlight.
I have a dimmer switch plug into which controls a dimmable lamp. I want the light to turn on for 5 minutes whenever a Fibaro Motion Sensor ZW5 senses motion, but only at night.
I gave up on using the lux measurements on the Fibaro motion sensor, since they update too infrequently. Instead I just rely on time. I tried using the Smart Lighting smartapp to set the interval when the light should come on between 1:00 am and 6:00 am.
The light turns on on motion but at any hour of the day, not just 1:00 am to 6:00 am. So i would be walking around full daylight and the light would come on.
I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, resetting the hub, nothing has worked.
I am on GMT +3:00 (Bucharest) time.
I think it’s a fairly simple automation, I am very surprised I can’t get a time limitation to work.
Just ran into something similar with Smart Lighting SmartApp. The Hub doesn’t automatically set to your time zone, so anything time based will default to GMT.
Load up the ST app, look for the 3 vertical lines (menu button). Click that, then the gear icon. In the center is the section to set your physical location via a map. After setting this, time settings will update and should be good to go.
Attached are pictures of the above, made quick on an iPad. Location on map is not my actual location.
I have an almost identical automation set up, however my issue is a little different. The light turns on during the correct hours, but it does not shut off when the sensor stops detecting motion. I look under the sensors “recently” menu and it says that motion has stopped, however the light never turns off.
