Literally the first thing I did before anything else.
These were @yvesracine’s MyEcobee devices which are used by his EcobeeInit smart app and all it’s child apps. The error that I’m getting is that when I try to force delete these devices in the IDE is “State cannot be greater than 100000.0 characters”. Yves advised this is a data corruption error and that I would need an intervention from Samsung to correct it.
Ecobee is a cloud-based integration. Try refreshing through the connector app and it should update the ecobee sensors at your location. If not, shoot me a direct message and we can get you some additional support.
@blake.arnold - where do we submit feature enhancements for the new app? For example, I would love for the dashboard to make better use of blank space. When monitoring is on, there is this huge blank space that is not worthwhile, which pushes other important widgets to below the screen. This is the default look:
…As has already been said here before many times, and I’m only saying this again because I’m experiencing it firsthand now…
I’ve been trying to use the new app exclusively for the last five days. Here are a few of my observations.
It is very slow to load. It feels like an eternity before I can scroll through the app or my devices update to current status. In reality it’s probably 30 seconds.
Presence isn’t as accurate as the classic app was. (I no longer use my phone in the classic app for presence). I am using @ady624 WebCoRE presence sensor for all of my WebCoRE automations until the stock one improves.
I wish there was a visual confirmation of my location mode when I open the app.
Having my presence as a “thing” is a necessity so that I can see who’s home and who’s not.
Individual device tabs need to have a tab that displays what SmartApps are using them. (Just like the classic app does)
I am still using the classic app for 2 main reasons:
To view devices that have a DTH that do not work in the new app.
Managing my custom automations in SHM that activate my Arlo cameras to record video on activity from certain ST sensors. —This is a function I am desperately hoping Smartthings adds to the new app. @blake.arnold
Just an update here. Through literally 3 sentences of directions and 13 characters of code, I was able to resolve my orphaned device issue thanks to a helpful member of the developers forum on this community. It’s really a shame that Samsung’s own staff couldn’t/wouldn’t provide the same level of support.
I took the plunge this weekend and have pretty much spent two full days migrating, configuring, testing etc. I’m fully functional at this point but some of the way I’ve achieved this is with some pretty ugly hacks.
The new app is an improvement for someone looking to move from basic to intermediate, but i think most of us in this thread have moved beyond that level of functionality. I’m still highly reliant on WebCoRE and ActionTiles and because they don’t have access to Scenes, Push Notifications, Home Monitor Status, etc. in the new app, I’m not particularly enthused about some of the things I’ve had to do to complete the migration this weekend.
There’s many things I think I could do with 3 or 4 separate automations in the new app, that are simply implemented in a single piston in WebCoRE. From a maintenance/support of my own implementation standpoint, I’ve kinda created a hydra monster that scares me!
If you use push notification and store in messages in your piston, it will send he message to your mobile device and display the message in your message section of the new app
In today’s Smart Lighting, we can turn on a scene based on an event, we can turn on, then turn off switches based on that event, but we cannot turn on and then turn off a scene. Will this be fixed in the new app?
E.g., I turn on outside lights to certain color & levels on motion, then want to turn those off after a certain time. Turning them on is logical for motion and it is logical to use a Scene. Turning them off prevents Scenes from being practical and mandates individual apps for each light increasing complexity. It’s a simple option to add that exists for sets of Switches in Smart Lighting. "These switches are being turned on - do you want me to turn them off after a time? "
