GE Zwave Dimmer Switch 12724 overheating

Hi Greg,

With the 12724 and the Eco bulbs above here is what I see:
With the Samsung App slider, it dims down to zero and shuts off there.
With the 12724 wall control dimming down the last LED ticks on at 13%
but continuing to press the dim button (and looking at the app
to see the percent, tapping the refresh button) I see 6%
then 1% and it’s noticeably dimmer. So I can dim down farther
than the last dim indicator shows on the 12724.

Does yours work the same way?

No, I have a cree and a ecosmart side by side in the same fixture. Using either the switch or the app the cree works 1-12%. The ecosmart won’t come on until 13%.

13% while low, is too high for nightlight applications.

Does the dimmer still get warm when you have all eco smart bulbs in it?

For my dimmer switch test, I’m using the device handler called “Dimmer Switch”.
Is that what you are using?

I’m using a non-smart cree bulb next to the eco smart bulb.
at 1% the cree bulb is much brighter than the eco smart, ramping up
as it gets to about 50% they even out in brightness up to 100%.
At 1% on the eco for me, it’s like candle light brightness.
At 1%, powering on the bulb seems to take longer. (like 1 second instead of instant)

Just curious…on your light fixture, parallel or serial wired? (serial if one light burnt out, makes all of them go out, like older x-mas tree lights)

The cree bulb I have is more than a year old, so the style is the glass bulb that feels like it has a thin rubbery coating on it, and it sits on a white metal base. I broke one open to see what was in it, the circuitry doubles the voltage to 240v and connects 10 - 25v LED’s in series. (I’d never seen a high voltage LED before. ;)) I’m going to open up one of the Eco’s and see whats in it too. What model cree bulb are you using, non-smart, smart, new/old?

Sorry, I’m not the OP. I was just following your recommendation on bulbs. I’ll reply via PM so as not to highjack any further.
