SmartThings launched Flex Connect last year, which is a demand response program available through SmartThings Energy. What’s cool about this program compared to others is a large range of smart energy devices can participate (automatically)! And it’s super simple to sign up and connect eligible devices to start saving energy during peak times, when it matters!
It works by simply connecting compatible devices through the SmartThings app.
The program not only rewards users for saving energy but does the heavy lifting with built-in automations. It’s not available everywhere but it has expanded and is available to most people in New York, California, Texas, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington DC.
A couple of standout features:
- It goes beyond thermostats and Samsung appliances, allowing a wide variety of smart devices to participate. That flexibility makes Flex Connect one of the most inclusive programs of its kind.
- Users get a $50 Samsung Rewards bonus just for enrolling and participating. Users with devices eligible with AI Energy Mode (available on most newer Samsung appliances) have an added benefit for saving energy as with additional Samsung Rewards that can be accrued via energy stamps.
