FAQ: Smartthings Energy Supported Devices

Hello i wonder me why the Aqara Smart Plug is supporting the ST Energy Service and the ST Smart Plug are not!

Is there a List of devices which are supporting the SmartThings Energy Service?

Eventually, there will probably be a number of Matter-certified Devices that support energy reporting (that was just added to the independent third-party specification with 1.3, which no home automation platforms support yet). But for right now that isn’t an option, and and there are no standardized methods for energy reporting. That means any device which is going to participate in the SmartThings energy dashboard has to have a custom integration, and so far only a few manufacturers have done one.

Those include
Aqara smart plug (model?)
Eve Energy smart plug and outlet
Tapo P115 smart plug

And many Samsung brand smart appliances.

However, the SmartThings branded Zigbee devices were never actually manufactured by SmartThings, they were always rebranded third-party devices. They’ve now been turned over to Aeotec But no word on if/when The custom energy dashboard integration required will be added.

A couple of other manufacturers have said they intend to become compatible, but I don’t know if those integrations have rolled out yet.

No i can not confirm this. Because the Aqara Smart Plug is using the standard Smartthings Smart Switch driver. The same driver that are using the Smartthings Smart Plugs.

In addition the devices are integrated via Zigbee not via Matter over Thread.
I bought also the Aqara H2 EU outlet and this is also not Supporting the Smartthings Energy Service.

It’s not about which edge driver they are using. If it was, someone could create a custom edge driver that would allow more devices to be added to the energy dashboard. And, as you point out, there can be multiple models using the same edge driver, but only one of them will be added to the energy dashboard.

It’s about the Information that the device sends and then whether the energy dashboard itself picks that up.

I know at least one of the EU models of aqara smart plugs has been reported as working with the energy dashboard, but I’m sorry, I don’t know exactly which models. Hopefully someone else who has one working will report more details.

Also, just to be sure we’re all talking about the same things, which SmartThings/Aeotec hub model do you have? And you are connecting the Aqara smart plug directly to that hub, yes? (It won’t work at this time if you are using matter over bridge.)

Also, which country are you in? There have been reports in the past that not all EU countries had the same SmartThings features, but we’ve never seen specific details.

Aqara SP-EUC01 connects directly to the hub using a standard zigbee switch driver and transmits data to ST Energy. Also in the ST application, all socket settings are available, with the exception of controlling the light indicator on the case. Fun fact - during operation, the indicator light slowly flashes blue and red alternately. When the connection to the zigbee network is stable, the indicator should be solid blue, while flashing red indicates there is no zigbee network. Aqara technical support reported that this indication indicates that the outlet cannot find the aqara hub and thinks that there is no connection to the network, although everything works stably. And to turn off the flashing indicator, you can only use the aqara home application, for which you need an aqara hub.

Hi @easynote Am thinking of getting the Sonoff S60 UK plug, is it able to get live power readings and use automation with it?
