It depends on how the SmartApp is written.

There’s a built-in mode filter which, I think will even prevent scheduled or subscription methods from firing.

If the developer doesn’t use that, then they need to check the Mode in each subscription called method… Because it might have changed.

That is good to know. Can you take a look at my posted question and see if I am using the one you are talking about?

What am I doing wrong with Mode Selection not working?

In my smartapp I added the app name and mode control fields which are supposed to allow the user to change the name to select which modes the app executes in. The name change piece works. However when I change modes manually to test modes out the smartapp continues to run as if the mode never changed although ST is reporting the mode changes from Home to Away? Any thoughts of why mode isn’t stopping the app from executing ? section ("Change SmartApp name, Mode selector") { label title: "Assign a name", required: false mode title: "Set for specific mode(s)", required: false } The ST documentation refers to two methods of “Allowing Users to Select Modes” and I think I am using the right way to turn the smartapp “off”?
