I have been having trouble not being able to see a Meross temp/humidity sensor (MS130) in Smartthings which was paired with a Meross hub (MSH450). I originally thought it was an issue with the sensor:
https://community.smartthings.com/t/cant-add-see-meross-devices-added-via-meross-hub/299875/21
However, I now think it is an issue with adding the hub. If I power off the hub then power it on again, I get a message in Smartthings asking me to add a new device (MSH450). I scan the QR code on the hub wait. a few minutes and then get the message There was a problem connecting to your device
with an error code 39-100. Googling this did not turn anything up. I tried connecting the hub with the Meross service linked and unlinked to Smartthings but got the same error message. Would appreciate some help - thanks!
… with your Galaxy Tab A9? Try it again with your iPad.
Of course make sure it’s connected to the same network and all that. You’ve told us that your smart home devices are in a separate VLAN - but what about your mobile devices? Are they in the same VLAN?
Your SmartThings hub and the Meross hub are connected to a switch that is connected to the Unifi gateway, right? But what about your mobile devices? They are connected to a separate WiFi router?
At one point it’s easier to start from scratch. Since you only have 4 WiFi (cloud connected) plugs and a temperature sensor that needs a bridge, you could replace all that with compatible devices that you can connect directly with the SmartThings hub.
IKEA Zigbee plugs or Eve Energy Matter over Thread plugs, IKEA VINDSTYRKA (Zigbee) or Aqara W100 (Matter over Thread) sensor (both have displays).
No complicated VLAN setup, only one hub, no additional clouds, everything works locally.
Hi @Andreas_Roedl tried the process with my iPad but it did not pick up the MSH450 after power off/on so I tried scanning the QR code but the installation process gets to the “prepare your device - check user guide for instructions” stage. Don’t know how to proceed after this … Have tried (a) waiting and (b) putting the hub in pairing mode but no joy with either.
All mobile devices (Galaxy A9 and iPad) are on the same VLAN as the IoT devices and the Meross and ST hubs are both on wired ports that use the same VLAN.
I think I am at the point of putting the Meross stuff back in the box and returning it for a refund. I really like the idea of using only 1 hub (I thought that was Matter was all about after all …?) so thanks for the suggestions. And thanks also for your other advice
