Can anyone suggest a (cheap) dumb radio that will work with a smart plug, I.e. when the power goes on - the radio starts playing. All of the radios I’ve seen need someone to press an ‘on’ button, which kind of defeats the purpose. I could probably use a smart speaker, but I’m trying to keep things simple

Alas this seems to be America only (unless I pay nearly the cost of the device to get it here (the U.K.)) Are there any other suggestions?
Ah, I suppose I should have asked where you are before offering recommendations. Here’s one with a hard switch that probably means it would turn on and off with power (if you remove the internal battery, not clear if that’s easy). I can see why you’re having trouble finding something when Amazon lists pages and pages of the same junky radio sold under different brands…

Thank you for the suggestion, that radio works just as a want it. I turn on the power and I get a station playing. BTW, how do you find these things so quickly?

Glad it worked out! I just do a quick search of Amazon, use some categories and selection filters to eliminate irrelevant results, and then skim the rest looking for visible features that are consistent with what I’m looking for - in this case, an older style look that suggests “real” switches rather than soft buttons.
