Any chance you will ever switch over to logging in to the SmartThings Community Forum with Samsung accounts? That would save @nayelyz from asking users if their community forum email address matches their Samsung account :grinning:

Is the new forum going to be voice navigable? You can do a free check at the following site.

the synergy between samsung and this community keeps surprising me!

I’ll be interested to see the direction. We’ve been on discourse here for quite some time. Staying with it or going in a new direction?

I have not gotten any response to my question as to whether The new forum will be voice navigable or not, which leads me to suspect it will not be.

If the new design is implemented and I stop posting, that will be why.

We will see.

never mind - found it! yucky look in dark mode.

Seems like the huge banner and search bar could be removed. Just add the tagline. Search is already in the upper right corner. Just makes for empty space and additional scrolling…

…my 2 cents.

@yenyrubiano On desktop the forum views fine. But on mobile, everything is squashed in the middle now, with blank space and missing info on the sides, any way to make it decipherable again? S24+ on Chrome and Firefox.

Looks like you have it on desktop mode.

I’ve only noticed the feel of needing more clicks and more scrolling, now it seems like if there were less content and interaction. Also seems easier to miss some posts since you no longer can have a quick look at what’s happening.

I understand the design choices though, like hiding any user generated content in the main page or hiding information like “messages / week” that sometimes could give a bad impression and makes it more prone to spam.

Edit: I’ve changed in Profile - Preferences - Interface the Default Home Page to Latest instead of Categories, now at least I see some content when entering the site.

I’ve only seen the forum on mobile so far.

Seriously? That’s pretty much my most used feature and I can’t see it.

Obviously SmartThings are somewhat hampered by the blue of their logo being quite an unsympathetic colour when used outside of the logo itself. However there is probably also a reason why they use white on blue. So WTF is the completely unnecessary header and tagline using black on blue? It looks really crap.

I had to go into preferences to select ‘SmartThings Dark’ as the dark mode theme as it defaulted to be the same as what they call the ‘regular’ mode. This in turn defaults to ‘Theme Default’ though somewhat bizarrely this is shown as ‘32’. Dark mode was a bit confused at first with black on black in the top line but it sorted itself out. It is good that the forum now respects the device mode but I think a simple selection for the default mode (Regular / Dark / Device) would be better than having to set dark to be the same as regular if you just want one theme regardless. In dark mode bright white on black is used on the top line and in unseen thread titles, and white on dark blue for the first time poster messages, and that hurts.

I’m not sure why the Topic / Replies / Activity box is quite so padded, or why the right padding is clearly out of bonk. However you can’t tell which is active, unless it is Replies in which case you get an untidily positioned up or down arrowhead.

I’ve only really been reading this thread so far and the posts do rather run into each other.

This is a fine example how to generate a problem that you don’t have.
New interface is a waste of space in mobile devices.
@yenyrubiano, do you guys even test things before going live?

@JDRoberts, are you still with us?

Mobile is unusable like this, too painful.

@yenyrubiano You have a problem with the forum not rendering correctly on mobile, I think you need to activate “mobile view” in the settings somewhere.

Then another post only has one word on a single line, in 2024!

Can’t say i’m a fan of the nav menu on the side instead of the top in desktop mode. Mobile seems to be working fine on the iOS version of chrome. The header is very…plain.

New forum works fine on both my android 14 phone and android 14 tablet. No problems with text not showing.

Looks like this on tablet

It’s not centered here on my Samsung Galaxy Tab Active5, Samsung Internet:

It is centered on both my Google Pixel 6a phone and Lenovo P11 tablet. I don’t buy or use over priced Samsung devices.
