Dome door window sensor

I currently use a dome window door sensor to turn on a light in a closet area. It used to work fine open door contact sensor turned on light. Closed door contact sensor turned off light. I am using the smartlighting routine to achieve this. The sensor now requires a double tap to turn the light on but turns the light off fine when I close the door. I have excluded, factory reset tried all the tricks including using a new sensor and it still requires double tap to turn on.

Please help, I am not a pro but follow instruction accurately

Thanks

Hi @Larry_Third

Have you reported this to Customer Support? This falls within their scope:

  1. Open the SmartThings app
  2. Go to the menu tab at the bottom-right corner.
  3. On this page, select the option “contact us” and then go to “Error reports”
  4. Select the topic related to your issue and follow the steps to submit your support request

Hi @Larry_Third

Thanks for reaching out. In order to follow up on this issue with our team, we’ll need a bit more information.

Could you please replicate the action and then send us the driver logs so we can investigate further?
Logs of the driver:

  1. Open the ST CLI
  2. Enter the command smartthings edge:drivers:logcat
  3. Enter the information requested by CLI
  4. Now you must be able to see the logs once you see the message “connected”
  5. Then, send the commands (that aren’t working) to the devices so they get registered there
  6. Copy those logs into a file and share it with us. You can send it to build@smartthings.com.

Note: If you get an error related to the connection, verify that the hub and the computer are in the same network.

Also, just to clarify, when you mention that it requires a “double tap” to turn on the light, could you let us know exactly what you mean by that? Are you referring to having to open and close the door twice, or something else?

Yes I have to open and close door a second time to get the light to activate.

Thanks for confirming, that helps clarify the behavior.

To investigate further, could you please help us by collecting the driver logs after reproducing the issue? You can follow the steps I shared earlier to capture them.

i am trying to get to the logs but am having trouble. I am not the best at tech. This is what i get

Could you please try again now?
There was a temporary issue with the page, but it should be working correctly now.
