Direct connect door sensor for ST Station (no hub)

Recommendations please! For direct connect door sensor for ST Station (no hub)

We have a new vacation home, and my understanding was that the ST Station could serve as a hub (the term “Hub” even appears in some of the Samsung documentation for the Station.

Just point me to a previous discussion, if there’s been one. I’ve only found various threads on connecting through other hubs (e.g., Aotec).

Thanks!

Any ZigBee or Matter over Thread contact sensor should work with you ST. Station.

The ST Station is a SmartThings Hub, but it lacks a Z-Wave radio.

Okay… there appears to be an unusually high number of new accounts posting this morning but they appear to be fake. The above response is totally incorrect. The Station does not have a z-wave radio so z-wave devices can’t be directly connected to it.

update: the post I was replying to has since been flagged and removed

The forum, and the Discourse platform as a whole, has a problem with bots and fake accounts (HA had to temporary block account creation). While not a new thing, thanks to AI there are more. They also have smart behaviours, just flag them as spam.

Eric, Thanks for the post because it obviously is incorrect, as you noted. – Paul

He is asking for direct connected sensors not hub connected.

Yes, but…

… for the ST Station, which is a hub.

This whole thread sounds like it’s AI generated… :joy:

Yeah… the dead Internet theory might not be so wrong.

I assure you I’m real. I also have an advanced degree in computer science and find the whole notion of “Artificial Intelligence” a misnomer. It’s software and large data sources, but “GIGO” still applies. I do agree that our species is not prepared for what we can do to harm each other when massive wealth has such tools at their disposal for mischief.

To the point I’ve raised: Does the Samsung ST “Station” support all or only some of the set of devices that work over Zigbee with a Samsung or Aeotek ST “Hub”?

The documentation is inconsistent. The Aeotek “Technical Specs” for the “Multipurpose Sensor” say it uses Zigbee, but also says that an “Aeotec H” (aka ST) is required.

I’ve messaged Aeotek for a clarification.

All three of the hubs mentioned support zigbee… they would support the same devices.

I’m happy to report that after doing a complete “start over from scratch,” I was able to connect the SmartThings Zigbee Multipurpose Sensor to the SmartThings Station.

Although there were some frustrating issues and incomplete documentation, I was also after several (re-Flashing of the board) able to connect the latest Konnected Alarm Panel Pro to the hub and have (so far) been able to connect a wired open/close sensor to appear as a device under the SmartThings Station.
