Difference between devices that work with the smartthings classic app and the new app?

I’m using the smartthings hub primarily as a way to connect zigbee devices. I don’t have any automation’s in smartthings. So my question is simply is there any difference in which devices I can connect to the hub ?

I’m using primarily a mix of ikea and Xiaomi devices.

I do have a few apps for connecting with IFFT and Home Assistant.

Strictly from a zigbee HW point of view, there is no difference. The device may show up very differently depending on how the DTH is written. The main difference on hardware support between the 2 apps is some C2C devices and enabling ZWAVE S2.
