[DEPRECATED] Blink Camera Device Handler with Motion Sensor, Live Video Streaming, Integration with SmartThings/SHM, Temperature, Signals and Push Notifications

2.4, no 5 gig frequency.

Every once in awhile I am getting a false motion via smartthings. However, the official blink app is not reporting it. Any ideas?

Also, I noticed when smartthings detects motion it adds an image into the activity feed. The image is not from the motion event, itā€™s the last picture I took with the camera. Is there anyway for smartthings to take and post the actual image taken of the motion event?

Yes iā€™ve been also getting it across my other motion sensors, somethingā€™s screwed up in the platform. My routines arenā€™t running when folks leave/arrive. Nothing to do with blink, itā€™s the platform.
EDIT: Itā€™s a platform wide issue messing a lot of things up:

###Blink Camera Manager - Version 3.6.2
(No change)

###Blink Device Handler - Version 3.3.0

  • Updated attribute imageDataJpeg to a Base64 string instead of UTF-8 to make it compatible with SmartTiles

So, does this mean Blink pics can be pulled into SmartTiles now?

No, unfortunately.

It means that the DTH now provides an output for snapshots that is of a format which is feasible for SmartTiles to consider integrating as a new feature.

This now goes into the SmartTiles feature request queue.

I bought another multi-sensor and was trying to add the device(Thing, automatic) but I repeatedly find the first Blink camera on my list and not the sensor. Any ideas?

Not multiple sync module. New device is aeontec multi sensor. I got it to install, using an iPad. iOS didnā€™t find the camera again. I guess Iā€™ll chalk it up to android app issue. I think the latest android app is Fubar, Iā€™ve had nothing but problems with the latest version.

Keep your eyes peeled for some interesting news in the next week or two.

Something tells me @RBoyā€™s work behind-the-scenes is going to pay off in terms of new functionality/an API release from Blink?

You are such a tease.

Iā€™m trying to figure out the best way to have this as the security camera while away w/ motion sensor normally. Since I normally use SMH for simple notifications, do I use optional SMH setting under the Smartapp to Turn camera on when home and away, or iā€™m assuming using switch to turn off the sensors means iā€™m turning off the camera while keeping the motion sensors active, is that correct?

The wording on the Smartapp under SMH is confusing since it says turn off motion sensor rather than camera, but I want the motion sensor active but not actual cameraā€¦ if that makes sense.

Blink is a motion sensor activated camera. If the motion sensor is disabled the camera wonā€™t turn on.

Yeah, after I posted that, I realize reading previously that the camera will have to record for motion sensor function. Not a big deal but getting alerts everytimes kinda gets old though. Do you know if Blink would actually allow making the cameras act just as motion sensors without taking a picture? Iā€™m deciding wether I want to supplement the cameras with more motion sensor or notā€¦

###Blink Camera Manager - Version 3.7.0

  • Improved motion detection response time for multi camera systems by 50% (2 camera) to 90% (9 cameras). Thanks to the blink engineers for enabling this.

###Blink Device Handler - Version 3.3.0
(no change)

@RBoy, not sure if youā€™re aware of this announcement

I noticed motion polling was only occurring every minute, when it had previously been around 15-30 seconds, but I chalked it up to the recent system issues until I saw that thread.

I sure hope your upcoming ā€œinteresting newsā€ is around motion events!

Thatā€™s right, the system makes it a little more random now, so it could be 10 seconds or 60 seconds.

Switch mode, seems to be a little flaky, sometimes when I disable the SHM from armed(stay) the cameras(switch) is enabled and I do not have the integration with SHM other than armed(away), disable when off. Sometimes when going from Armed (away) the cameras stay on. Recently Iā€™ve even had intruded detected immediately when the alarm was set via a routine. Setting a false alarm almost immediately.

However using camera mode, I seem to have it run consistently, I only switched thinking when in 100% motion monitor more(no camera) would drain the batteries since I still have a ton of other motion detectors going. (I know the faq says it doesnā€™t but it must drain more than an sync off state.

I still seem to have the issues now that ST says most things are fixed, maybe best to just use camera mode and find new places for the stand alone motion sensors,

Consider this just feedback at this point, since we just about a week away from a API backed device handler/smart app. If I guess correctly on a previous announcement.

Iā€™m guessing it still the SHM issues the platform is having

Why so?

No, thatā€™s too early, some other goodies heading this way
