Because I was just testing it out. My cameras stay on all the time so I don’t need to have them turn on and off based on if I’m home or not.
Gotcha. Thanks for the info!
Battery life seem to be OK? Custom device types or they just work? I hate to have a bunch of different device types but this seems to be a very good deal!
Gocontrol is Nortek Linear’s DIY brand. Mostly just relabeled linear devices.
Sooooo good stuff? I only have their garage door opener which appears to be pretty good thus far.
Good midrange brand. Well-engineered, but not necessarily the highest grade materials. Quality is similar throughout the line so basically the same as you got in the garage door opener. Very popular devices.
Hi @3one5 3 months 100% battery, its default zwave door/windows sensor, automatically detected, I have smart sense, gpcontrol and aeon labs door/windows sensors and all work fine.
Sounds good. I ordered a set.
Just when I thought I had all the devices I wanted (needed is a different story…), I couldn’t resist and bought a pack of 2 Quirky GE Door/Window sensors at our local Home Disappointment store (sorry, couldn’t help myself). Out the door price was a little over $40 for the pair. That is a good deal if all you need is a simple open/close sensor. These are Zigbee btw.
There is NO device type for these that ST provides, but I found one in the Community and tweaked it for the new tile attributes. If you need it, let me know. It’s on my Github. You must create the device type in the IDE before adding these devices.
If you get these, you will be pleased. These are the smallest and thinnest open/close sensors I’ve seen, and placement is super easy because the magnet and sensor can be almost an inch apart. They actually look good too. Response time was also immediate. I’m happy, and probably will get another pack of 2 tomorrow after work.
@johnconstantelo. if you are willing to pay a bit more; you can get the GoControl zigbee mentioned in post #62 at HD for 49.99 (16.70 per controller) [2contacts,1motion]. you were paying 20per1.
Hi @RoadRunner, yep that’s true and a good price as well. While Amazon has a firm grip on my credit card, I was able to pick these up right away in the store and play with then the same day. Plus these things are tiny, I mean tiny. I should have taken a pic before installing them. They are roughly a 1/4" thick, 2 1/8" long, and 1 1/8" wide (sensor itself).
I spent quite a bit of time searching Aliexpress for zwave/zigbee sensors yesterday and I can’t believe I found nothing! They sell some complete systems but not much separately, and the prices are terrible. I thought they’d have unbranded open/close sensors for like $10 a piece or less. This must be the only category of cheap electronics doohickeys they don’t have covered.
amazon and HD have the same price. I was at HD earlier today.
@RoadRunner. Cool, what part of the country? I’m in Raleigh, NC and can get to a few HD’s within a few minutes.
EDIT: Found one store on my way home, so looks like I’ll be making a short detour! Thanks for the heads up on HD carrying these.
Alibaba / Ali express has cheap pricing. But I get weary of US vs European vs Chinese zigbee / zwave frequencies. Sometimes its listed in mHZ sometimes not.
I know zwave can be different but I thought zigbee was always 2.4GHz. Is that not true?
is this them ? says $40 each online Been kicking myself I didn’t buy more PEQs
Read the description. it is $39.97 for each 2 pack
Tripper sends you real-time mobile alerts

bulbs). Sold in a pack of 2.*
doh… thanks
That is actually the regular every day price on the Quirky trippers. I’ve seen them “on sale” for $30/2 pack .
