Hello. I recently switched my local (in-network) DNS resolver to a tracked service (nextdns.io), and noticed a huge amount of queries to info.cspserver.net.
Looking closer, it appears two installed A/C units are querying the DNS every 30 seconds, each. What’s up with that? The 2 units are causing a considerable strain on the resolver, and are chewing through my query service allocation.
What brand of A/C are you talking about? Is it connected any way to SmartThings?
It looks like info.cspserver.net queries only have a 60 second TTL so that behaviour may not be that odd.
The A/C is Samsung AR9600 I think. AIUI, it’s just paired to an application on 2 phones, no hub.
Thanks, that indeed seems to be the case (I’m not going to investigate what sort of service warrants these super-frequent queries, or what the AC is communicating to have to query continuously).
I’m probably just going to redirect queries for this name to an unmetered service.
