I want to connect a Hue light through IFTTT to show the state a garage door. In other words, Hue light on if is it open and Hue light off if door is closed. I have a recipe for when the door is OPENED. I have a SmartThings Multipurpose Sensor attached to the garage door now to show the position of the door.
I have my garage door set to send me an email when its opened or closed. im sure you could compound a IFTTT rule where if you get an email stating the garage door is open, the hue light goes on, and if its closed, the light goes off.
I found doing compound rules to be a good workaround since I wasn’t able to really make the rules engine work for my setup.
