Hello. I’ve just started my smarthings journey and do far have the hive thermostat and dimming light bulbs working along with some everspring dimmer switches. Very impressed and love looking through the community threads.
I was wondering if it would be possible to control these led strip lights and floodlights?
It says they use Bluetooth so I’m guessing there may be a work around?
Thanks in advance
Stee
It’s all going to come down to the specific details.
SmartThings Hubs do have Bluetooth radios, but they have never been enabled, so you can’t use them for anything. So there’s no integration possible directly to the hub.
If you are using the new smartthings app (“smartthings (Samsung connect)”), Then it is possible to connect some Bluetooth devices to your account by actually connecting them to your Android phone.
The problem with that in this case is that the specific devices are using a proprietary Bluetooth mesh, so I’m not sure if they do make a direct connection to the phone or not.
If they don’t, since they don’t appear to have an IFTTT channel, you might end up having to use Tasker and sharptools on an android phone to get any integration.
So I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it’s not going to be easy.
Thanks for the reply. I suppose it may be better to look at a fibraro rgbw dimmer controller and a decent strip light in that case then, as it would be easier to integrate and work along side other smarthings devices? I’m not sure it would be worth the time taken to try and make them work from a beginner’s perspective
That would definitely be easier.
