Yeah, it doesn’t make it work with HomeKit. It makes it work in the Apple home app. There is a distinction: there will still be some features which are only available for HomeKit certified devices. But it definitely does open up more candidate devices, which is nice.
That one’s interesting, and does have an advantage in that both the smart doorbell and the smart lock are hardwired rather than battery powered. it also has a battery backup for emergency power if the house’s power is out.
But that’s basically a convenience feature, and I don’t see how it justifies the $6500 price tag (uninstalled).
So I think this is the right trajectory, but not yet the right product.
