That thread seems to have had a resolution by Rachio updating their oauth/token issue. However, today, I am trying to link Rachio to SmartThings for the first time in my home and I’m getting the same ‘network or server error occurred’ response, as follows:
using the SmartThings app on my Android phone
go to link partner devices
find Rachio in the list and select it
get prompted to authenticate to Rachio, which is successful
I get a prompt asking me if I want to allow SmartThings to control my devices, I say yes
I instantly get the ‘network or server error occured’ message
I get a SmartThings message that the Rachio integration has been deleted
a short time later I get an email from Rachio saying there has been a new login to my account
Everything is up-to-date and I’ve rebooted everything.
Has the issue in the linked thread recurred? Has anyone recently (last 2-3 weeks) linked Rachio successfully without issues?
You should report the issue to both ST customer support through the app and also reach out to Rachio Support. The last time there was an issue, it was on Rachio’s side.
I opened the issue with ST customer support. The Rachio support tech in chat informed me that SmartThings/Rachio integration officially ended on May 16, 2025!?! I even pushed back for clarification and they said it that was correct, but could not provide any official link or notice. I believe they are mistaken and I’m trying to bypass Rachio support chat now and open a support case via email.
Welp, here’s the official response I got from Rachio “confirming” they ended integration between Rachio and SmartThings on May 16, 2025:
Thank you for reaching out and providing such detailed information about the issue you’re experiencing. I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially with the conflicting information you’ve received.
Unfortunately, the information you were provided in the support chat is correct. As of May 16, 2025, the direct cloud integration between Rachio and SmartThings has officially been discontinued. This means that the ability to link Rachio devices directly with SmartThings is no longer supported. While some users may have found temporary workarounds or lingering functionality, these are not officially maintained or guaranteed to work.
I understand this may come as a disappointment, especially if you’ve been part of the active community of Rachio and SmartThings users. While we no longer support direct integration, you may still be able to explore third-party automation platforms like IFTTT or other creative solutions to bridge the gap between the two systems. However, please note that these would not be officially supported by Rachio.
If you have any further questions or need assistance with your Rachio device, feel free to let me know. I’m here to help in any way I can.
