Can I make my own iOS app and not use the Smartthings app at all?

Can I have a programmer make my own iOS app and not use the Smartthings app at all? If so, can I use the Smartthings cloud?

It is probably very possible and he would have a good idea of how to get it done.

No, I don’t think we have access to enough functionality to totally replace the SmartThings app with a 3rd party app, and I’m not sure I would want to do that. We can certainly do some things really well in another app, like SmartRules does. There are definitely some other pieces that would work well in a third party app, too. We have plans to build more onto SmartRules over time.
