I have two buildings about 200ft apart that are on the same network (Router in one location and WiFi AP in the other, connected by ethernet). I have (mostly) Zigbee devices at both locations and thought I wanted to control through one Smartthings Hub. I have a Smartthings Hub V3 in the primary location and purchased a Smartthings WiFi (ET-WV525 V1) (ST WiFI) for the remote location thinking (incorrectly ?) the devices could connect to the ST WiFi in the remote location and the Smartthings Hub in the other and be managed as one hub under the Smartthings App.
While I can set up the ST Wifi device at the remote location, I can’t get it to act as a hub or connect to devices. If I select “Set up SmartThings Hub” when I install the ST WiFi it fails (“couldn’t add device”). When I query Perplexity it implies the ST WiFi won’t do what I want it to do, and I really just need another SmartThings Hub at the second location.
Can someone help clarify this? Thank you
