Blink support discontinued!

I just made a virtual switch called arm Blink system, and then have my automation toggle it accordingly.

Made a quick applet to blink, I’ll see how it goes.

Is this in conjunction with using IFTTT? Or something else?

Yes, I linked my SmartThings and my Blink to IFTTT. Created a virtual switch in SmartThings that changes state based on home/away/night/sunrise, then that switch change of state arms and disarms the blink cameras.

In my system I need to arm and disarm individual cameras based on certain states and the only option I would have with IFTTT would be to get a sync module for each groups and that is just to much of a mess. They should have made sure they had more options then just the 2 they rolled out with. IFTTT is such a subset of what is needed.

I agree, I have a camera in my kids room I will have to remove now as it will arm at night.

Matthew

And shock of shocks, there was a problem with the Blink IFTTT service so it failed.

lol… what a joke.

Update, not sure what happened but it started to work.

I was able to leave the motion detection on the bedroom camera uncollected in settings so it does not turn on which is good.

It’s not ideal, but will work for now.

Hi,

I have 7 blinks on a sync module and 3 xt blinks across separate sync module. The xt are US versions, and the standard blinks purchased in the UK. Had these for almost a year and been great with the ST intergration via Rboy. Deeply disappointing with all that’s happened, but trying to get some core functionality back via ifttt?

Mainly uses are

  1. arm/disarm all cameras in Away/I’m Back routines respectively.
  2. arm/disarm a selection of cameras in Night/Morning routines respectively
  3. take photo snaps on certain cameras when vibration detected on main door multi sensor ie knock on door or vibration on letterbox

I’m able rectify (1) & (2) via ifttt and simulated switches under ST.
I assume there’s no way upon trigger photo snaps on any specific camera in response to some event under ST?

Hung

OMG!! Well, there’s the rest of the story.

lol you’re telling me. ironic that a bunch of us updated/added negative reviews of the product on Amazon too hahaha! makes sense though - this is one area where Amazon was lacking and makes sense for them to get into. seems like possibly a good move to capitalize on the market. now, as far as improving the software, that has yet tbd. i’m not ecstatic about the Alexa software at the moment. but this is a little different… not sure if i should hold my breath or what.

More importantly, I wonder what this is going to mean as far as ST integration. Now that it’s “Amazon Blink”

And there it is. Ecosystem war.

Holy shit. Not really sure what to think about the way this transpired…

[Amazon acquires Blink]

Well… I guess there goes folks hopes that this incident will have Blink crash and burn.

Congrats to Blink. For consumers… A net positive in the long run, though very uncertain as to the long term impact to SmartThings + Blink customers.

ActionTiles is open to offers, BTW. But we insist they benefit our Customers (well… Depending on how big of an offer :smiling_imp: :moneybag::moneybag:).

lol yea… the blink team was probably sipping on champagne, smoking cigars, and laughing at this thread for entertainment purposes only the entire time… jerks

more importantly: I would hope Amazon would strongly take into consideration maintaining the ST integration. esp considering how ST has allowed Amazon Echos to integrate with them.

:joy:

My post from yesterday:

Ding Ding ding!

Thinking they had a good plan in place.

Hey everyone, send more emails to Blink support. They still might change their mind.

Or more bad reviews on amazon.
