HI is there a way to trigger my standing desk via ST to go up or down based on certain events. Would like to avoid any electrical work to accomplish this
Sounds like an interesting idea. 
We need to ask a few questions first.
What country are you in?
What model SmartThings hub do you have, if any?
What’s the brand and model of the standing desk?
If the desk has its own app, do you use it, and if so, do you use it with an android device or an Apple device?
HI JD, I live in Germany, i have an Aeotec Smart Hub, along with Aqara M3, SwitchBot mini and several Alexa echo devices - my standing desk ist from Maidesite it does not have an app but a 4 button controller which can also be configured to rise on time schedule .5 /1h 2H….
I don’t use android devices i have iPhone but no HomePod

Thank you Andreas that’s exactly what i did not want to do 
and so far i am not on HA considering it but limited in time
