Arlo Pro Announced Today

@jbassaly,
Ok let me ask a few questions first. Are you using an iPhone or na Android device?

@jbassaly,
I am going to assume that you have the Mode in Arlo set to Smartthings and for each camera you have the Rule set to Record Video. I will also assume that in the Arlo Settings you have each camera set to off and in Smartthings under Things you are turning the camera on before performing your test. Is that correct?

iPhone Brian

Brian, on ST each camera is set to On. On the Arlo, the mode is set to ST
and each Camera is On and have a rule to record if it detects motion and
not sound

@jbassaly,
Not sure if this has any bearing on your problem but in Arlo the cameras should be set to off otherwise the cameras will record video every time motion is detected. Smartthings will turn the video on and off depending on the alarm state.
I just checked and all my cameras are working in ST. In the Things section I select the camera, turn it on and the black window shows Active in the top right corner. I click the circle and I get a spinning wheel for several seconds then I can see a live view from the camera. I then turn the camera back off.

Some people have had the problem that you are having even though they are on iPhones. I guess I am lucky.

Anyway, If you change the Arlo Mode from Smartthings to Armed, do the cameras record when you walk by them?

@jbassaly,
If they work in the Armed mode in Arlo, next go back to the Smartthings Mode and turn each camera off. Go to the Things section of Smartthings and turn each camera on. Now walk in front of them again and see if they record video again and let me know the results.

@jbassaly,
Since Smartthings is supposed to act as an on/off switch between both systems, I don’t know what will happen if the cameras are left on in Arlo. They should normally be turned off with the Smartthings integration.

It works sometimes, but is flaky and something that I don’t rely on. I have adjusted my phones so that they don’t show any notifications from the Arlo apps, then use the apps for any live video needs and let ST control when motion alerts matter and when cameras are on.
