Aqara hub connected to ST Station via matter bridge keeps going offline

So I recently picked up a ST Station and it got the new firmware (50.10) the other day enabling Matter bridge support. So I tested adding my Aqara E1 hub via the Matter bridge and it worked right away bringing in my motion and door/window sensors.

Everything was working fine and then I noticed that the E1 hub and it’s connected sensors were showing offline in ST. I didn’t do anything to try and reconnect, just left it. Then randomly the next day I noticed they were all showing online and working again. After checking logging, it seems the Aqara device intermittently go offline and then come back online all on their own.

I realize this is new functionality and all, but does anyone have any ideas what could be causing the issue?

Just FYI… I’ve tested adding the Aqara hub to my basic Home Assistant as a Matter device and it brought in the sensors and never had any hiccups. My HA has no Zigbee controller, so I assume it’s using WiFi to connect to the Aqara hub?
I don’t know what protocol the ST Station is using for it Matter bridge connection to the Aqara hub… Zigbee or WiFi? (I’m new to all this)

Anyway, thanks to anyone that has any info or suggestions.

At the time of this posting, All matter bridges connect by Wi-Fi, regardless of the home automation platform.

The Matter bridge can use whatever protocol it wants to communicate with its own end devices. But it will use Wi-Fi to communicate with smartthings. :sunglasses:

Thanks for the info. I kinda figured that was the case, but wasn’t sure. Being connected by Wi-Fi means I have no idea why it’s going offline. No other wi-fi device is having issues.
When I did the original post it was currently offline, but when I got back home a few hours later, the Aqara hub and sensors were back online in ST and working again. :person_shrugging:
