It seems that error means the hub isn’t receiving certain information (but I’m not sure if it should come from the device) and that’s why it’s timing out.
We can open an investigation for your case, could you provide the following, please?
Try to pair it again, take note of the time and share it with us including your timezone. For example: 17:15 GMT-6
Select the time period and confirm - In this step, please select “Until turned off”, once the team finishes, we’ll let you know so you can disable it again.
And no luck:
(Translation: Connecting to network not possible. Make sure the network can reach your device, set up the device again and try adding it to your home again.)
I hope this makes any sense:
ST hub is connected by ethernet and guest wifi (as back-up)
And I already had the FP2 over the main wifi added to ST but when I unplug the ethernet cable the FP2 would go offline in ST (still working fine in the Aqara app). Is that because the ethernet uses the main network? So by taking the cable out it couldn’t see the FP2 that was on the main wifi?
If I do get the FP2 added to the guest wifi, will the ST hub still be able to connect to it if the ethernet cable is connected again?
I saw some messages that in Home Assistent people could use the FP2 without internet, should I/we be able to do that as well?
I have multiple devices that work on the guest wifi network?
Switchbot hub mini
EnergyFlip (to measure my gas and electric meter)
Nuki Lock
Wyze camera
Nest protects and thermostat
Check your router settings if client isolation is enabled. Also make sure that your smartphone is connected to the guest network while commissioning the device.
Do the devices on your guest network communicate with each other or only with the Internet?
My understanding of a guest WiFi network:
A guest Wi-Fi network is essentially a separate access point on your router.
All of your home devices are connected to one point and joined as a network,
and the guest network is a different point that provides access to the Internet, but not to your home network.
I can’t find any setting “Client isolation” on my router.
Maybe on my mesh wifi when I turn it back on, but I’m guessing the router still wil stop it?
Phone is connected to the right wifi, that’s how I add the FP2 to the main wifi and can’t do it to the guest wifi.
I think they all communicate with the internet?
Switchbot devices go the the hub, to their cloud and that is connected to ST
FP2 in the old setup would go offline when I pulled the ethernet cable out of the ST Hub.
The problem is that my provider gave me a router with some options/function removed. So there is a good chance that what we are looking for is just not possible with this modem/provider.
So, based on this. You would suggest just keeping it on the main wifi and ofcourse the ST hub plugged in to keep them online.
Edit: It appears I am allowed to use my own modem/router, so that is the next step.
@nayelyz I am struggling to add the FP2 to SmartThings. I have them connected to the same network, it works in the Aqara app, but I cannot get Smartthings to find it. I have a v3 hub that is wired ethernet. FP2 firmware is 1.3.1, Aqara driver in smartthings is Aqara Presence Sensor 2025-05-05T21:13 (SmartThings Drivers channel). I have tried several times to reset and read the FP2 in the Aqara app, and then search in smartthings (selecting FP2 as the device to search), and no luck. It times out and says something went wrong error code:34-302.
Attempted to pair on 2025-07-18 at 11:02 (Brazil time, GMT+3).
Requested Hub Logs dump.
I have granted access to my SmartThings account for 1 week (same account registered on the ST Community forum).
Since this error is related to a timeout waiting for information from the sensor, I just want to confirm the following since it’s the first thing the team has asked before:
Did you reset the device correctly? FP2, which has already created a token once, does not connect to other hubs until is reset.
If it is explicitly erased from the ST app or Aqara app or if you press the button for more than 5 seconds, the token generation history disappears and becomes reconnectable.
You haven’t cancelled the process before it ends, right? The team mentioned that if the device registration is canceled after the token is issued, FP2 cannot be reconnected before a reset.
@nayelyz I found out what happened. My router’s app TP-Link Deco updated and released a new feature called “Device Isolation” which blocks communication between devices within the same network, and I accidentally placed the v3 hub in this function. I removed it and then successfully added the Aqara FP2 to the V3 hub.
