App can not connect to device if handler is used

My device is Ecolink Z-Wave Plus Automated Light Switch. After adding device the app is able to connect to device. The app is able to connect if I change device type to “Z-Wave Switch”. However after changing device type to use my custom handler the app would stop connecting to that device. The handler was create from Z-Wave Switch example. The handler was Published for Me and device status is set to Published.

Does anyone know how to debug connectivity issue with custom handler? Thank you!

New SmartThings App is not compatible with most custom DTH unless they contain critical metadata. Even then, functionality may be limited.

If you are using the SmartThings Classic App (recommended), it should work … or you have a different issue.
