Amazon releases new Echo Dot & Echo Tap devices!

Got two dots, would love a third to tether to my phone in the car. Fire TV Stick still needs a button pressed, I don’t like that and the hassle to connect it all up. Should be less than $90 too, but hey, that’s the cost of ONE Echo so I can’t complain.

Far as I’ve seen all devices can be removed from the account they were ordered under and moved to another. I gave a Fire TV Stick to my mother-in-law when I got them for $20 a pop.

Supposedly you can order the Dot via the Amazon app if you swipe & add to cart! Can anyone confirm success with this?

It worked!!! I created a custom command in Rule Machine using Sonos to order my Echo Dot. Amazing! It took a few times!

Looks like there are other creative ways to order it right now as well… =D

Haha cool! I went home for 15 minutes to place an order. I didn’t want to get a full Echo for my entertainment room so this Dot is perfect!

I think Amazon missed the mark with $89 price tag. If it was $49 or less, like the Fire Tv stick they could completely kill off the Google CCA doggle that doesn’t work anyways

Important: Echo Dot is available in limited quantities. When we sell out of Echo Dot devices, they will no longer be available. You can only order this device using Alexa. You can’t order Echo Dot on the Amazon website or Amazon shopping apps.

I’ll believe it when I see it… I think it will be so popular they won’t have much choice… but who knows

No longer be available? That’s strange. Probably means it’s excess stock of the Echo “head” and they are going to come out with a second version soon, good way to get rid of excess.

The website doesn’t have that bit, maybe it was a typo?

That’s an interesting thought I hadn’t thought of that. It very well could be the head of the unit re-purposed.

Yup I ordered 2 via Sonos and rule machine. I kept playing around with “Alexa order an who dot and Yes” and eventually it ordered both. Now I see a link was provided but this was more thrilling lol

Yes it asked for confirmation. You had to look at your Echo history in the app. Interesting way Amazon rolled this out as they wanted people to use voice ordering which forces people to see how easy it is…

Just asking…Does anyone know if there will be an issue with having multiple (i.e., more than one) Echo/Echo Dot’s paired to one SmartThings hub? Or does the ‘Dot’ attach/pair through the Echo?

I have multiple devices (Echo’s) now…as long as they can’t hear you from each room, you can have as many as you want in your account.
