All Z-wave devices just stopped working

All of my Z-Wave connectivity stopped working on 12/31/25. I noticed a message showing an update to ST app on 12/31/25. Otherwise nothing else has changed…

My Z-Wave Lock (2025-10-27T19:39:51.95675116) and Z-Wave Switch (2025-12-08T22:56:32.493838138) drivers have not updated…just appears to be whatever occurred on 12/31/25. I tried rebooting, z-wave repair, that didn’t help. It can see the devices, it just isn’t controlling them….any help?

Are you able to control devices from https://my.smartthings.com?

I can not do it from the site, nor the app. I can see all the devices, shows them online. I just can’t control any of the z-wave switches (GE), z-wave outlets, or z-wave lock (schlage)…which is the reason I have the hub

I’m experiencing the same. I was assuming it was due to a power outage but maybe that was unrelated. Where do you see your hub had an update?

58.10 has been out for quite awhile now so I’m suspect that a firmware update is the issue. If your hub had received a new update, it would likely have been 59.9, but that rollout for the v2 hub isn’t scheduled to start until Jan 12.

I would do some driver logging with the ST CLI to see what messages are being sent/received from your hub to/from devices.

I realize now the notice I have, says the ST app was updated on the 31st, not the not the hub. Still interesting timing?

The app interacts with the ST APIs to control the hub and connected devices. If you can’t manage the devices via the AWA or the CLI, I doubt it’s related to the app update since those both use the same APIs.

Again, I suggest driver logging to get an idea of what’s going on.

I’m having the same issue that just started after the app update. All zigbee/zwave switches no longer work. It’s :100: related to the update.

I also have the v2 hub and I’ve had this all working since 2016 with no changes or additions in over 2 years.

If you find a fix let me know. I’ve reset everything. Checked updates. Kicked breakers and power drained switches and smart things hub. Nothing fixes it. Switches work manually still by hand pressing them. Nothing responds in app.

My last events are all on the 29th before the update. All my devices have a routine at 1015 every night and that’s the last night they completed it. So it’s clearly related to the update on the 12/30.

I’ve deleted one single switch from my smart things hub. I had to log in to the webpage and go to advanced users section to get it to delete. Then I’ve factory reset it and tried adding it back thru the app. The app no longer will allow the addition of a zwave device. It just times out repeatedly.

I also have the same issue… it doesn’t seem to be related to one specific device/communication protocol type… as far as I know all my devices were working at 9:25 am today (1/3/2026) and then shortly after that a vast majority of my devices no longer work. I had turned on a few switches at that time and then about 30 mins or so later thoes same devices no longer respond. Most devices are zigbee or zwave, but even some of my matter devices are not working. A few devices on wifi (tp-link & Wiz) still work from smartthings, and my matter connection to my Nest Thermostat still work, but not the matter connection to a couple outlets, and switches. Alexa control of my Hue lights still work, but i cannot turn on the hue bulbs via smartthings. This is not just 3rd party devices, “OEM” smartthings outlets & buttons also do not work (pressing them does not show any activity in the app). Trying to turn on a smartthings outlet via the app eventually produces the error “a network or server error occurred. Try again later”. I have restarted my home network, and removed the batteries and power from my V2 hub, none of these items fixed the issue. My internet is working (as I am writing this from my home computer in the dark … because none of the lights will turn on). @SmartThings HELP!!!

Same for me - I lost history from devices and can’t send commands from Android app nor ST Web. The histories end between 12/29 and 12/31. This is across both Z-wave and Zigbee. App says all of the devices are online. I’m happy to do driver logging, I will try now.

OK, figured out how to install the CLI, login, and get driver logging. After a little while (connected) and walking by some motion sensors, etc., it does show activity. So it seems like the apps (web + phone) are not interfacing correctly with the hub? @h0ckeysk8er

Also, routines that are “local” aren’t working… so something is wrong with the hub itself, I’m guessing. Hub V2 like the others.

You know I think you might be on to something…. I’m still working through my list of devices to verify, but it sure seems like the only devices that are still working are the “cloud” execution devices. Most of the non-working devices are in the “local” execution. (how backwards is that LOL! Usually, it’s the cloud that is the problem child!)

Ok, so you are see messages arriving at the hub from devices. Do you see the hub process those and emit events? From the AWA, if you issue a Refresh command, do you see the hub receive that command, transmit a message to the device, receive a response, and does the hub emit the event?

Can confirm - it does seem to be any of the device running locally do not work (even though they report online). All of my cloud devices still function correctly.

I have submitted an “error report” via the app as well. Hopefully someone from support sees this thread or reviews the support ticket and helps us correct this issue

All of my local devices stopped working today also. Worked fine in the morning.

I too have v2 hub with firmware 000.058.00010 and effective Jan 3, like others here have reported, all local zwave and zigbee devices can no longer be controlled via the ST app nor ST advanced web page even though the app/web site indicates device is online. Will continue to work on identifying root cause and update here and monitor here in case anyone else in the community solves this mystery. I have also filed a ticket via the ST app which I suggest others do as well.

Hi, I’m having the same problem with my zigbee devices. After reading this thread, I’m not sure if it happened after power failure or firmware update.

I have a V2 hub with firmware 000.058.00010

To add up, I have a couple wiz matter lights that also aren’t working with the smartthings app, but they do with Wiz app

Same as others, v2 Hub, Firmware 58.10.

Only thing to add is that yesterday I switched the drivers for the affected local devices to a different one and they started working, and switched back to the original they continued to work (so not actually a driver problem per se). So after going through each device to change the drivers around, this morning the problem appears to have come back.

Using CLI logcat and the Web GUI: I can issue the “on” command via web gui and it says it ran successfully. But there are zero entries in the logcat display (showing all drivers @ trace level), so it doesn’t appear that the command is actually getting to the driver itself. Once the driver is switched around, a pile of entries appear as normal.

My outage started Friday night around 8:30 PM EST

Same problem here.

All my local? devices and routines stopped working around 12/31/25, however the Smartthings app and dashboard show them as online.

I have a V2 hub with firmware 000.058.00010. Not sure whats going on…

I also have the Smartthings Station running some Matter devices, and those are working fine.

@SmartThings please advise, thanks
