Echo does work with Nest now, via Smartthings. I assume your talking directly to Nest as part of the “works with nest” program?
How many degrees will it go up or down if you say, Alexa, Turn up the heat or Alexa, turn down the heat? Does anyone know the default?
I assume it’s 1 or 2.
You can always find the latest versions listed here: http://thingsthataresmart.wiki/index.php?title=Alexa_Helper#Latest_Version
Yes, I think I can wait a couple weeks for the official release. Not a fan of IFTTT. Was there something else to allow Nest to work with Echo?
Yes, Echo now natively supports thermostats and can leverage the Smartthings official integration to do so. That is what this thread is about
@michaelS,
I got everything installed tonight, removed the thermostat integration between ST and Echo and set up my two thermostat scenarios.
I have to say, must better than the integration.
I keep my thermostats in auto mode all of the time and now I can set the temp adjustment with Echo.
I had used Alexa helper when I first started with ST back in Sept 2015.
I really like the improvements you have made to the app. Thank you.
Great…glad it is working for you. Wait until you see the additions I have planned for later this month (voice reporting!). Unfortunately it isn’t through the Alexa speaker, but the framework is there if they ever open it up a bit more to vocal feedback.
That will be great! I already I have rule machine giving me the voice feedback on the mode changes.
Oh, there will be much more than that
