Aeotec Smart Home Hub/2018/2015 Model Hub Firmware Release Notes - 0.51.02

Thanks, I will try 30 minutes

Remember that, when you do that, you take the hub off of power (including removing batteries, if it has any), but leave all of your other zigbee devices on power. That way, when the other devices can’t find a hub, they will go into ā€œpanic mode.ā€ Once the hub comes back online, everybody will rebuild their neighbor tables, which should give you the most efficient mesh.

Note that this rebuilding process can take a while, so you might not see results until the next day.

There has also been a lot of posts over the past month about Zigbee problems just like you are having. I feel that this may be related to the last firmware update.

I’ve had a lot of problems with slow the response time. Usually it was enough to disconnect the hub once and reconnect it. But this time nothing seems to work. I can operate devices connected via WiFi or via 3rd party apps. It only seems to go wrong with Zigbee devices.

I actually think all the Zigbee problems started with Firmware 49.09. It seems like they increased the polling or something causing to much traffic on the Zigbee mesh and draining the batteries on the devices. There is another topic about Zigbee battery drain that started in mid-September right after they released 49.09. When running logcat on 9/16 I started seeing hundreds of messages per minute.

unplugging the hub for 30 minutes had no effect. I have slightly fewer devices offline, but I still can’t control any of the online devices. If I turn a device on or off in the app, nothing happens. What I do notice is that both ZigBee and Thread use channel 25, could that make a difference?

I agree also because inonce had a massive zgbee iaaue after a update & then later on after another update it was fixed. Knock on wood i am not seeing any issues now. Btw, this was before edge drivers.

Okay, the problem just got weirder. I can’t control any of the 152 existing ZigBee devices (when they are offline, but also not when they are online), but… I just added 1 new ZigBee device I still had it lying around and it is now the only one that works and that I can control. So it really seems to be in the existing devices

Nope— they actually use the same radio and shift back-and-forth between protocols. So normally they will be on the same channel, but there’s no chance of interference, they aren’t both operating at the same time.

Sounds like it’s time to open an official support ticket. What country are you in?

I’m from the Netherlands and smartthings support is practically zero :sob:

Correct hub Location? Looks like your hub has changed it’s location

I have had a support ticket open for a couple of weeks now and i’m struggling to get an update over in the UK, so ot seems we have limited resource here to.
Additionally my Zigbee network has been unstable for a couple of months now including Smartthings Multi-purpose sensors, motion sensors and plugs.
Previously thr Smartthings own devices have worked seamlessly.

What do you mean by hub location? The hub has not physically been moved and I have not changed any of the location settings in the app itself.

ā€œLocationā€ is a setting on your SmartThings account, which is supposed to tie individual devices to a specific street address. You might have more than one location for various reasons.

There have been multiple reports in the past from community members that for whatever reason the app suddenly added a new location without any devices and that was the first one they saw when they signed in. No one seems to know why this happens, but it can happen, and it’s an easy thing to check and fix if it does happen to you.

My hub reports disconnecting and reconnecting a few minutes later about 40 times a day since the evening of Dec. 4.

Any suggestions? I’ve tried power detaching the power cord to power cycle the hub once already. I did the same to the router when that didn’t help. Still experiencing issues.

At the risk of pulling this back to topic () how are those with updated firmware @ 51.02 finding it… Issues fixed, introduced, unaffected?

This happened to me yesterday right after I changed a setting to enable wireless MIMO on my router, but just detaching the power cord to power cycle the SmartThings v2 hub resolved it for me. Not sure why that happened since my SmartThings v2 hubs are wired Ethernet. Very strange.

Anyway, chasing a gremlin like you are experiencing is difficult to isolate and resolve. My suggestion is that if you don’t already use Google’s DNS servers, then try changing the DNS settings on your router to Google’s DNS servers statically and then power cycle your SmartThings hub to get the new DNS settings via DHCP from your router. I’ve had lots of problems with my ISP’s provided DNS servers, so I don’t use them.

Just a comment for everyone experiencing Zigbee issues. Something similar used to happen to me occasionally years ago (not recently) where my Zigbee devices would go Offline randomly for no reason at all. The only way I was able to resolve it was to use what I call a ā€˜go completely dark’ procedure.

  1. Turned Off all of my UPS units.

  2. Went to the main breaker panel(s) and turned Off the main breaker(s) in the panel(s) feeding the entire home.

  3. Waited about 15-30 seconds and turned the main breaker(s) back On.

  4. Turned all of my UPS(s) back On.

  5. Once everything came back online, the problem was resolved.

I’m thinking my problem had something to do with either the saturated use of the 2.4Mhz wireless realm between me and all of my neighbors, or maybe power line noise coming from the power outlets that everything is connected to perhaps.

Same or worst for ST Wifi and Home Connect… but lag for updates are close to years!!
