Hi all. I’ve been wrestling the Pico Shutter a couple of months ago when it first became available.
There is more than one problem with this device:
#1 Device Firmware keeps reporting status as “100% open” in 10-minute intervals, interleaved with a correct report of the actual percentage.
#2 Device Firmware has the zigbee commands for “open” and “close” swapped.
#3 Aeotec’s Edge driver does not expose all the advertised features (like the 2nd endpoint for tilt (slat fold) control, or direction reversal for when you’ve wired it up wrong).
#4 There is widespread disagreement across the documentation about which way is up. There are contradicting wiring diagrams, and the engineering guide says 0% is Open and 100% is Closed while everyone else has it 100%=Open and 0%=Closed.
#1 and #2: These are observed with generic driver as well as Aeotec driver, so I’m positive these are in the device firmware not the drivers.
#3: The quick start guide in the packaging has the correct wiring. S2/Q2 are Up, S1/Q1 are Down.
#4 Matter-of-factly, 100% is fully open and 0% is fully closed.
I had reported all that to Aeotec Support, and after a few rounds of exchange and experiment, including logfiles pulled from SmartThings CLI, they agreed this needs to be worked on. Sadly, they eventually stopped reporting back altogether, and neither new firmware nor driver updates have appeared since.
However, the device isn’t completely unusable if you mind a few things:
(1) Use the generic “Zigbee Window Treatment” driver.
(2) In Routines, use percentages not Open/Close commands.
(3) Do not attempt to steer to 100%. Du to problem #1 above, if the last status reported was a false 100%, your command will be ignored. Use 95 to 99 percent instead.
(4) Alexa users: Commands to go to 0% or 100% will map to the Open/Close commands not a “go to percentage” command, and will thus go the wrong way. Percentages from 1 to 99 will work.
