Adding thread products to Alexa using SmartThings as the tbr

Now here’s a thing.
Was messing about with Alexa and adding stuff via matter using SmartThings as the external thread router. I genuinely wasn’t expecting this to work, but it actually does.

In this video the ikea bilresa remote is being used to trigger an Alexa routine to tell a random fact.
I can also add it to SmartThings.
But why would you wish to do this you ask?
Well, in this scenario it means I can trigger Alexa stuff using an IKEA bilresa remote which I can’t do directly with the SmartThings c2c integration.

You probably all knew this already, but I didn’t and it only occurred to me to try.

I just did that too - add the BILRESA to SmartThings Matter Hub, and then grant access to Alexa.

The bad news here is that Alexa processes all events as single press, even double and hold. So you can’t let Alexa handle single press and have double and hold do other things.

BILRESA also works if the Echo matter hub runs it directly - first stateless button ever to work in Alexa.
