2018 - Current: Custom Graber Virtual Cord Z-wave+ Shades & Bali Autoview Z-wave+ Shades

Hey David,

Can you please email support@zebrablinds.com, we haven’t tested this on hubitat but if it’s happening on it as well we would like to get more information. Also please email in any logs you can get from hubitat as well as I would like to submit it to Graber.

Right now the only confirmed sources are ST and Hubitat. We haven’t had any reports of problems on Wink, Homeseer and Vera (which we actively sell the shades to as well).

Also, what type of shades did you order?

Hi Neil. I purchased the VIRTUAL CORD Z-WAVE LIGHTWEAVES® GRABER® ROLLER SHADES.

Yes, I can send an email to support.

Thanks,

Neil;

I installed my Bali motorized shade. Configured it with smartthings and set up automation.

Shade operates as expected however, after a while the shade shows up as unavailable in smartthings and will not respond to Smartthings, Alexa or the automated scenes. As soon as I use Bali’s 2 button remote to raise or lower the shade, the status returns to “on” in smartthings and all is good. Any ideas on how to keep it in an “ON” status?

How far are the shades from the hub? It could be one of 2 things. One the shade drops the signal from the hub because the mesh isn’t strong enough or two, the motor is not waking itself from sleep like it’s supposed to in which case you might have to get it warrantied.

Try checking if it’s a range issue first. If that fails try a motor reset. You can find the instructions on the first post.

Do you have any promotions currently running? Looks like the last one ran out in March.

The St coupon as well as the video promotion is running till the end of the month for now.

@ZebraBlinds, It’s been about a year since I last explored these shades. Has there been any announcement or hint of offering this in a skylight shade? What options would you recommend for motorized cellular skylight shades?

For skylight the z-wave shades aren’t available, however, our current motorized skylight shades will be receiving a smart controller at the end of the year. Essentially works like the mylink bridge/a glorified remote controlled using a phone or schedule. It will initially only work with the app it comes with but IFTTT support is planned.

Neal, I looked at the event list from the device and noticed it was going offline one hour and back online the next. The automation would work if it hit at the correct time. Based on some other z-wave issues I moved my smart things hub further from my router. It was originally on the same shelf about 2 feet away, I moved it about 6 feet away and haven’t had an issue since.

Neal. This is the log prior to moving the hub.
Again no issues since moving it.

In general, your ST hub’s distance from your router shouldn’t have much of an effect on z-wave signal transmission. Z-wave operates on a different frequency than WiFi.

It’s entirely possible that moving your hub helped with some z-wave signal issues you were having, it’s just unlikely that the reason it helped was that the hub is now farther away from the router.

Zigbee, on the other hand, is also on the 2.4 GHz frequency. So if someone is noticing a problem with one or more zigbee devices, moving the hub away from a source of 2.4 GHz interference (i.e. the WiFi radio in the router) could help in that case.

Thanks Mark, Could it have been more electrical interference than wifi. The hub was sitting on top of a couple nas drives, next to the router and modem. With everthing plugged into a surge protector right behind it.

Hi Neil, I haven’t heard anything from support in a while. Has the issue where the shades don’t complete their open or close events been figured out yet? I have more blinds I would like to order, but just can’t do it until the ones I already have work correctly.

Hey David,

We’re pretty certain we’ve identified the issue and as mentioned earlier we are a 100% certain it’s an issue with ST and at this point Hubitat. We are doing some additional tests to see what can be done. Over the next week you should see me post an update asking for people to try things just so we can get some more data as well as workarounds.

Another thing we are also certain of is that it’s only impacting the roller motors even though both the roller motors as well as the ones used on the other shades run the same firmware from Somfy.

Neal

Would love some advice – I just set up a pair of Autoview shades and remotes and after some trial and error managed to get all of the devices included in SmartThings setup. I can control the blinds perfectly from the app and the remotes.

I then go to try to add them to my Google Home – I unlink my ST account and relink, but no blinds… Hmm.

I go to the Google SmartApp and untick “Allow Google to access all devices…” box, and see three categories of devices that I can select from to share, Switches, Thermostats, and Heaters (the latter two are greyed out for me, I have none of these in my ST setup.) My blinds not included under switches. Is this a Google issue? Or a ST issue?

My blinds are using the “Springs Window Fashions Shade” DH – this is what came up automatically. Should they be using a generic dimmer DH? I’m hesitant to monkey too much without some advice.

Switch it to the generic dimmer for Google Home to work

Thanks, Neal! That did the trick.

@DeveloperDavid Can you try switching the devices to the springs window fashions DH and see if theres any difference?
