16 amp switch uk

I have a dehumidifier hard wired into an isolator switch. I’d like to be able to add it to smart routines so need a 16a smart switch to go between the isolator and the dehumidifier. Are there any people would recommend?

Ideally something that will work directly with smartthings rather than a different app to then integrate with either smartthings or google home.

Cheers

  1. It’s expensive, but the Aeotec heavy duty zwave switch is popular for high load devices and works well with SmartThings as long as you have a SmartThings/Aeotec hub.

Available for different regions, so make sure you get the one that matches your hub’s frequency exactly.

  1. the Sonoff Powr3 is a WiFi device that handles up to 25A and is supposed to work with SmartThings through the eWeLink app, but I don’t know of anyone who’s actually tried it. It would not require a SmartThings/Aeotec hub. Cost should be significantly less than the Aeotec model.
  1. Caution: there are some devices spec’d for “up to 16A” but I would only run a 15A load on those. At 16A you really need a heavy duty device. These would normally support at least 25A.

  2. Tuya does make some 25A Zigbee models sold under multiple brand names, but they use proprietary Zigbee clusters and integration with SmartThings can be challenging. So I’m hesitant to list those, but include them for completeness. Requires a SmartThings/Aeotec hub. Hopefully if someone has a specific model working they will post.

There’s also the Heatit ZM Single Relay 16A (Z-wave) if you can get it in the UK
