Zwave Wall switch: fan control, light dimmer?

It’s been about four or five years and I’m still looking for this and I know somebody else was — in fact I’m just gonna copy his original question from 2016.

Anyone know if anyone makes one of these yet? Ideally Z wave. Pretty sure I can find one that’s Wi-Fi by treatlife, but I’d really rather a Z wave if I can get one. Here’s his text.

“ I have a wireless controlled (with a inwall switch) fan that has a light (dimmer capability) and 1,2,3 levels of fan speed. I would like to switch this out with a z-wave type device. I am having a hard time finding a switch that would give me this level of control of the device. Is there such a thing anyone has seen or currently uses?”

Thanks in advance!

Inovelli made one for about a year, but then discontinued it. :sob:

Nobody else has one for the US market.

The best solution is probably still two side-by-side Jasco/GE switches. One to control the light and one to control the fan. See option two in the following FAQ. (The FAQ is out of date in terms of the platform architecture, but I’m not up to fixing it right now and at least you’ll see how it looks.)

FAQ: 2020 Ceiling Fan and Dimmer light wall mount control compatible with SmartThings and Alexa? - #3 by JDRoberts

This should work fine, and most electricians will have no problem expanding the box to be a double gang.

I don’t also don’t know of any Z-Wave fan/light combo switches.

There are several WiFi ceiling fan and light combo switches that work with SmartThings:

  1. Treatlife which utilities the Tuya/SmartLife platform. I have 3 of these. I like the form factor but the SmartThings integration is only So So. For the light you get on/off control and dimming. For the fan you only get on/off control. To get speed control in ST you need to use Tuya Tap-to-Run automations and a virtual fan switch.

  2. Meross, I have 1 of these. Not thrilled with the form factor but it has a full SmartThings integration that works well.

  3. TP-Link Kasa KS240. I don’t have any of these but they look nice. The box doesn’t show a SmartThings integration. But on the Home Assistant sites some people are saying they are using SmartThings to get the switch into Home Assistant. So it appears they work with SmartThings.

  4. There are also some “cheap” Chinese, ZigBee fan light combo switches. There are the glass plate styles which I don’t like.

Thanks Paul!

Yeah, I have one of those tuya Smart life things as well and I agree with you. Limited in st so I’m using it with Miss A to get speed on the fan.

I’ll have to look into the meross. I have a couple of their other things.

I just got put back on inovellis email list. They say they have one coming out supposedly August of this year. I’m not gonna hold my breath. Lol

Thank you. Yeah, this one’s in a really tight space and there’s literally no more room for a bigger box. Otherwise that’s the way I would go just to keep my sanity.

Not even vertically?

Something like this makes it easy to add another box:

Physically, no space for another one. Short wall, lots of framing. Thank you though I appreciate it.
