Zwave 3 way switch help

Replacing my standard 3way switch on the kitchen for a zwave 3 way switch. I installed the master switch andit works perfectly. The auxiliary switch is where I need help. I can only use the swotch to physically turn the lights on. I am unable to turn the light off from this switch.

I have watched several videos and I cant find the exact scenario that i am dealing with. The auxiliary switch only jas 3 wires coming into the box (red white and black)

A good place to start is here:

I have a 3 way set up with a master switch and an addon switch. The physical switches don’t work, but I can turn the light on and off with Smartthings.
I tried a test by removing the traveler wire from the master switch and then the physical switch works.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make and model of the devices?

The master is an Enbrighten (GE) toggle, model ZW4009, the Addon Switch is an Enbrighten (GE) toggle model AS2006.

Those are pretty straightforward to wire, but depending on how your original 3-way was wired, there are different configuration options. Check out this post [FAQ] GE 3-Way Wiring for more info.

Thank you for the replies and the guidance. I ended up figuring out that the line (black) and the traveler (red) are crossed somewhere between the 2 switch locations. What fixed my problem is using the line wire as the traveler at one switch and the traveler at the other switch.

Works perfectly now.

Are there any accessible intermediate junction boxes? You really ought to fix the base issue, before someone in the future makes an assumption that causes problems!
