I made a video to document my find, link here:
On android app.
Backstory is, I was just getting bored in smartthings and changing Edge drivers and looking at different stuff when I open my Honeywell Total Connect Wi-Fi thermostat. While reading the information I found that there was an app version 2.3.49-10 (thats not the smartthings app version), and since I have an aversion to click menu items a whole bunch of times looking for other hidden menus, I found one! It asks for a password. I’ve tried my smart things password and I tried my Wi-Fi thermostat password but neither works. I’ve also tried my Samsung password and a couple other passwords but nothing . Any suggestions? Whats on the other side of a correct password?
Probably a diagnostic mode like the test mode available via the About SmartThings menu. Can’t remember if I ever figured out the password for that but it isn’t something I’d particularly want to mess with. It’s bad enough using the app with the bits that are meant for the users.
The mobile app is chock full of downloadable plugin apps to handle different functionality. The one you are seeing is, I believe, the standard device controller. Smart tags, for example, use a different one. Whether it handles just the UI or also all the API interactions I wouldn’t know.
Once upon a time, back when a ‘vid’ was still the ‘vendor ID’ and the equivalent of the presentation was the ‘UI Manifest’, the Developer Workspace allowed you to create your own plugin to control the generation of the HTML of the device details page.

As a follow up. Hubs still have the more spartan Information page. However ten presses on the Controller Version gives a password prompt.
SmartTags have a similar form of Information page as Hubs, but it is the main heading that you click ten times (as with the About SmartThings menu).
