Why hasn't smartThings shown Homekit some love?

I’ve had limited success with Siri or Google Now in noisy environments, so I have to go old school sometimes.

I liked this too, used it from work for a while. It’s a good app!

and how long did it take??? 2 years after Android???

Ok… then tell me the damn trick to getting Roger to freakin work!!! Every time I want to use it… Nothing… No response… Zilch… errrrrrgggggg

you have to add ALEXA (as you would add a person) -
Press the cresent lower center - will turn red - talk- when done speaking " Alexa turn on XYZ" press the red cresent to stop recording. She will get it and respond back to you as well.
Does that help ? or are you having problems adding Her?

Oh, I have it installed and set up… it works sometimes… usually when I’m just bored and screwing around. But every damn time I need it to work… Alex Just Listened… does the b**ch reply??? Oh hell no!

I’ve waited for years for Apple to get the ball rolling, and finally got fed up with the limited functionality. Hence the reason I went with ST.

I’m also one of the people buried deep into the Apple fold (3 Macbook Air’s, 2 Apple t.v.'s, 2 iPad Air’s, iPad Pro, Iphone 5S, 6, and 6s (Man, I didn’t know how bad it was until I just typed that). Everything does work well, even if ham-stringed to a degree. I’d rather have that than all of the issues I had with Windos/Android (No offense to the fan club’s of those platforms).

doubt it… I think she’s been talking to my Ex’s house…

Send her to Texas? “ALL my ex’s live in Texas” ?

I am not sure of the relevance here. Personally I don’t care who got it first. Did you think I was slamming android? I was not. My point was that both android and iOS have it. I truly do not understand why a choice in OS has to be a competition for consumers.

It took years for Apple to get Swype…and NFC. How long did that take them to get? And when they finally came around, they marketed it like they invented the technology, while Android users were all like…“Umm…Welcome to 2010?”

I still don’t get the relevance. They both have it now. People that couldn’t wait went to android and those of us that could stayed with iOS. Why does it matter how long it took Apple to implement or allow additional software/features?

That’s the crux of this thread though. How long it takes helps you decide what to go with. America’s instant gratification kick tells us the first to market will usually get the biggest bite.

Android by its very nature is ridiculously more flexible than iOS, hence why it gets these tech innovations first, Apple then evaluates, cleans up, makes more usable and then pushes them out.

Nothing wrong with either approach, except for us early adopters!
