Where is the IP camera support?

Not sure if any app can be disabled, more of an OS option. Which device android or iOS? If android, which OS version? Rooted by chance? If so, easy command line option to turn it off temporarily to check if that is the issue.

iOS app, neither iPad nor iPhone jailbroken, but I do have the developer kits, beta iOS9 installed, nothing changed in behavior from iOS8.

Don’t use iOS and not sure of their implementation of IPv6. But there are lots of reports of comcast’s ipv6 rollout and mobile device issues.

Do you see a similar 10+ second delay surfing the web, ie loading pages, etc.?

No delays outside of smart things. In fact IPv6 is much quicker all around for websites that use it. I would attribute that primarily due to websites having more available capacity on their IPv6 servers and likely newer servers, newer NIC’s, etc. Once everyone starts using IPv6, I’d suspect performance will drop to IPv4 experience.

I’m working right now, so I can’t disable IPv6 until this evening. I will let you know how it goes.

It’s a long shot. Don’t go out of your way. I assume ping and bandwidth on the mobile device isn’t an issue?

Dropcam might be a bit faster, since their API is using cloud to cloud then down to mobile. No local hub or public camera connection.

I tested my dropcam’s vs my generic and the dropcam image pops in about 25% faster overall.

Anything new on the camera front?

My idea solution would have the following.

  • POE Cameras
  • Ability to store locally and access remotely
  • SmartThings integration

Blink is finally going to be shipping in September. Are you still watching it? Looks like an awesome option for a great price. Would be awesome to integrate especially with the v2 hub being released soon.

@cromine87 Agreed. I am waiting for my backer kit from Blink with 2 cameras system. @Ben, how about it. I do recall our conversation on the Developer call and you said something to the extent of wanting to have a low cost camera solution like Blink. How about this, I will get it soon and than when they give me the API access, you can use me and my hub as a test platform? And maybe Samsung will buy them out and we’ll have an inhouse wireless camera with local and cloud support integration.

Blink looks great. Looks like the will open up a developer API but don’t have one yet. Let me know when they do

Hi @Ben,

Check out this BLINK update video.

They will be shipping soon.

"Delivery Timelines

The plastic manufacturing issues we’ve experienced have delayed our schedule a couple of weeks, but we are doing everything possible to get a reliable and robust product to our customers as soon as possible. If all goes as planned with the internal team beta units, we intend to start shipping beta units by the end of next week (September 4). We’ll then use that additional feedback to further improve the system and begin shipping to all remaining backers on October 18."

Thanks for reviving this! I’m in for 5 Blinks and can’t wait.

No problem @ggbjr. I am on this.

I’m in for five blinks, I really like how deep they’ve gone with their own design.

Blink’s using RSTP – hopefully making this integration happen more rapidly.

There are new solutions with Foscam and IFTTT? i will design some applets like IF i am in my home wifi THAN stop the Foscams. and IF i disconnect from it switch the Foscams on.

do you have some help for me?

So this is apparently an ancient thread but…
My Android helper-app for SmartThings, LANNouncer, can be triggered to retrieve IP Camera images and push them up to DropBox.
